The challenge
To provide, for the first time, a web-based means for employers in the hospitality sector to find local colleges offering training courses for staff.
The solution
We treated the project as a joint venture and heavily involved both employers and colleges right from the start. We delivered the project in phases, and at each step we got buy-in from a wider and wider circle of stakeholders.
There were three components to the website:
- An administration website for Springboard, allowing them to manage the colleges, employers, users and courses, and monitor the requests going through the system.
- An employer website which required excellent usability – so the employers would quickly start using the system rather than reverting to indirect ways of getting in contact. Before the final build, we spent a lot of effort on usability scoping and testing.
- A college management module to deal with requests from employers. We developed a workflow management system to track course bookings.
The results
The system was delivered on time and to cost, and Springboard tell us they’re delighted with early results.
