The challenge
London Central Portfolio
provide an end-to-end service for investors in London’s residential property
market. In the wake of the successful London Olympics bid they had business opportunities
there for the taking. They knew they needed a new website to help them find and
keep new customers.
And not just any old website, either. It had to be able to present and process a
complex stream of interrelated information – and make it simple to understand and
use. A dynamic site capable of daily change, administered by non-technical staff.
There was one other thing. The site had to be developed, tested and launched in
time for LCP’s
fifteenth anniversary – just one month away.
The solution
The first task was to get a really detailed understanding of how LCP were going to work with the site. A clear definition
of objectives at a very early stage is key to a successful outcome. The specification
and delivery proposal was quickly signed off with only a few minor amends, and work
began.
The site had a simplicity of design, clarity of content and intuitive navigation,
coupled with a powerful and flexible module allowing ongoing editing.
As an extra layer of security, True Clarity provided hosting so that performance
would be consistent and timely changes to code could be made when needed.
The four-week schedule meant we had to work very closely with LCP , with decisions being made on a daily, sometimes hourly,
basis.
The result
The site launched right on time, without trouble, and with a high volume of visitors.
LCP staff controlled
site administration from day one. And feedback from all sides has been enthusiastic.
Since launch, staff have been able to respond to events immediately by updating
text, images and graphics without having to wait for someone else to do it for them.
It’s increased efficiency, improved staff satisfaction, reduced costs and pleased
clients.
An early review of the site by
LCP reported that there was possibly too much information available for
visitors, yet when log files were analysed it became apparent that visitors were
spending considerable time on text-heavy pages, suggesting they were absorbing and
using the information.
This was confirmed when a new client told LCP that they had read almost everything on the site. The
client’s decision to approach
LCP was based entirely on the content of the site – a clear sign of a job
well done.
